Cwtch wins prestigious restaurant award

St David’s, near Haverfordwest in South West Wales, boasts beautiful natural scenery and has always been a popular holiday destination. Now there is another reason to visit this stunning area of Wales. Earlier this year a restaurant, Cwtch, in St David’s, which opened about five years ago, was named the best restaurant in Wales by the Good Food Guide. This award is decided after a survey of thousands of people who had eaten out in restaurants all over the country, so it is a real indication of success and customer approval.

The restaurant owner, Rachael Knott, is delighted to receive this award and it is especially satisfying as this is a small restaurant in a small town, in a fairly remote area of Wales, away from large centres of population. This means the restaurant staff have worked hard to create a restaurant that works for local people, so that they have built up local regular custom in a fairly wide area to keep them busy all year round.

Like many restaurant businesses in Wales, they also depend on holiday makers during the holiday season, and their locally sourced food has succeeded in attracting holiday makers and being popular with them, as demonstrated by the result of the Good Food Guide opinion survey.

With foods such as local Welsh beef and the traditional cheeses of Pembrokeshire, as well as seafood available just down the road, this restaurant shows that natural, rural foods are one of the key aspects to success in the restaurant business.
